About Affsoongar
Affsoongar, b. 1999 , is a self taught photographer and a painter based in Tehran, Iran.
Her works offer a glimpse onto a femme fatale, perhaps an alter-ego, living an often transgressive, taboo-free life.
Her images are hybrid tableaux including mythological creatures, modern settings, Persian miniatures, Qahveh Khaneh (old coffeehouse) paintings… These rebellious female figures evolve at times in natural spaces, where strength & vulnerability take turns. Women, often associated with nature, demonstrate resilience and fragility in structures that overlook them but also take their power for granted. Just as nature endures damage & regenerates, Affsoongar's woman reconnects with her roots, rebuilds herself & inspires others through unwavering perseverance. Her scars serve as testament to her enduring power & indomitable spirit.
