ALEXANDRA JABRE

We are incredibly happy to announce our first resident of this new season, the British-Lebanese artist Alexandra Jabre.

Jabre was born in France to Lebanese parents and has lived in the U.S.A and the UK. She is a multi-cultural and multifaceted artist, attentive to the complexities of human connections beyond dualistic views. She prioritises kinship, closeness and intimacy as prisms through which she builds her creative universe.

“Through my paintings I aim to develop a dialogue that speaks to observation, relationships, and intimacy. By connecting the subconscious with a version of experienced reality, I overlap forms from each realm to create an ambiguous space. Within this space, humans bonds are the basis for my perception of “home” – how the idea of “home” as the locus of intimacy might be condensed into the concept of Love”.

For her Worlding residency, Jabre proposed a body of work using watercolour and acrylic paint based on her ongoing work about consciousness and energetic ties between humans
