STATIC DREAMS | Elizabeth O’Farrelly & Mia Zeferino-Birchall

FRIDAY 27 MARCH | 17:00 - 21:00

65-69 County St, London, SE1 4AD

Burning hot Wendy houses. Scribbles on sofa backs. The soft whirring of scratched CDs.

As we move further and further away from our childhoods, these memories begin to haze. Walk too far away from the source, and the signal begins to weaken. Forms, once tangible and full of life, begin to blur at the edges. Static dances across the images.

Static Dreams brings together the work of Elizabeth O’Farrelly and Mia Zeferino-Birchall to rebuild the playful landscape of childhood. A landscape existing at the cross-section of play and pixels.

MEET THE ARTISTS

Mia Zeferino-Birchallis a multi-disciplinary artist based in London, working at the intersection of textiles, craft, computation, and design. She is currently in her final year of studies at Chelsea College of Art, UAL, where she is undertaking a BA in Textile Design (with Creative Computing).

Often rooted in themes of memory, nostalgia and connection to home, her practice spans textiles and embroidery (hand, machine, and digital), creative coding, interactive installations, sculpture,
3D printing, painting, and graphic design.

With a particular interest in exploring textiles through computational technologies, as well as the
relationship between craft and art. Mia is currently developing a research-based practice, centred on
the interconnection between embroidery and code. Engaging in both artistic and critical intentions, her work serves as a creative inquiry into craft and computational intersections within textile practice.

Elizabeth O'Farrelly is a London-based artist who has a multi-media practice, having studied BA (Hons) Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts and completed a Foundation diploma in Animation at Camberwell College of Arts.

Her practice spans painting, 2D and 3D animation, sculpture, installation and miniature model making and she uses these mediums to explore ideas of memory, nostalgia and home.

These concepts arise in the mural, 'The Gift of Life' that she and three, fellow students designed for King's College Hospital and also in her work created at her recent residency at the Wimbledon Museum.
